Behind the Green Door made by the Mitchell brothers in San Francisco in 1972 achieved similar cult status as the porn-hit Deep Throat. And since the Mitchell brothers’ hardcore films possessed a certain amount of acting and dramatic qualities, the film critics of the time quite seriously referred to them as “art-films”. The story of the film represents one of the basic male fantasies. Marilyn Chambers stars as Gloria, a beautiful all-American girl-next-door who is being kidnapped to perform various sexual acts in front of an audience at an underground sex club. The key trapeze sequence in which the heroine has a penis in every part of her body capable of taking it is said to be filmed during a single 14 hours long shooting day.
