Linda Stevens returns to inherit Montclare, the old family home run by her mother as a retirement home. Something deep in her memory seems to be triggered merely by being back in the house, where strange and eerie things start to happen. Montclare harbours a dark secret and Linda will need to unravel the truth before she becomes another victim… Next of Kin is one of the forgotten gems of Australian genre cinema. The director is slowly constructing his house of cards and leading the viewer down the garden path. Nothing is as it seems in this ghost-cum-slasher film which makes for one hell of a weird viewing experience. A beautifully shot slow burner that really comes into its own.
