You could hardly find a more suitable title to commemorate today’s International Women’s Day than this forgotten gem from the production line of Menahem Golan‘s B-movies dream factory Cannon Films. Writer-director David Engelbach’s America 3000 is a bizarre post-apocalyptic oddity offering an outrageous mix of quintessential 80’s bad taste and period commentary on the booming of feminism. 900 years after the nuclear war, mankind is back to the pre-iron age. From the ruins rose a new order, a society led by females, making all the rules and laying down the law with spiky effectiveness. The men are dumb, either kept as slaves and seeders or living wild as animals. Only Korvis and a friend are intelligent enough to flee and found a tribe of their own. Will they manage to teach the women to love men once again? Join us to savour this delicious titbit in all its VHS glory.
