It goes without saying the festival would not be complete without its beloved masked mascot dishing out another of his crazy adventures. This time the legendary luchador and his comic relief sidekick Carlitos come to the aid of Irma Morales, a wealthy landowner. Santo and the Royal Eagle is an old dark house mystery set in a hacienda in rural Mexico, spiced up with quite a few ranchera songs. While Santo fends off the bad guys, he also finds time to fall in love with Irma, not to mention do a little wrestling. Apart from the usual goofiness the film gained certain notoriety for depicting activities the ASPCA would not exactly approve of.
