Back in the golden era of video the shelves of video-rentals were full of bizarre surprises but also with cheap rip-offs of high-budget hits. Nevertheless it took a giant of trash cinema like Roger Corman to rip-off one of his own rip-offs! Dead Space is actually a remake of the Corman produced Alien clone Forbidden World, going so far as to using footage from that which is actually footage from Battle Beyond the Stars – another Corman classic – and introducing a very poor man's C-3PO for good measure. Still with us? Now then, the Beastmaster himself, Marc Singer, stars as a space soldier who answers a distress call from a scientific community headed by none other than Bryan Cranston of future Breaking Bad fame in one of his early roles. Once our hero gets to the place, he finds out experiments there have accidentally created a nasty monster that roams the base bumping off the cast in more or less reverse billing order. Now it's up to him to destroy it. And the Czech simultaneous translation is up to our beloved Samantha Bifidus, giving her a chance to finally come out with her heisenbergian obsession.
