It seems kind of appropriate that the line “It is our duty to think God out of existence” comes from a film made in a place called “Down Under”. True, Bad Boy Bubby disturbingly touches the depths of our souls and yet somehow soothes the aching traces it has left there and Nicholas Hope’s fantastic performance makes this daring journey truly unforgettable.
It is a twisted story of a twisted grown-up boy who spent 35 years of his life confined in a two-room cellar accompanied only by his not very motherly mother and then got “outside”. The world keeps turning with, or without Bubby in it and the silver screen seems to whisper his words: “Well, if that’s all there is... we’re stuffed.” Daily Telegraph wrote: “Avoid if easily shocked.” We say: “Don’t miss out. Come and BE STILL!”
