Our bodies determine how we develop ourselves in society, whether we like it or not. With this visually and conceptually startling debut from Eduardo Casanova, the question of how the love child of John Waters and Pedro Almodóvar would look like might just have been answered. Sticking to the ultra-kitsch aesthetics of his earlier short films, the writer-director has created an off-the-wall ensemble piece following the connected lives of a variety of characters with extreme and unconventional physical disfigurements.
