Forget 1984 or The Man in the High Castle. The most disturbing dystopian vision of the future was imagined in the famously unhinged post-hippie, neo-biblical, rock/disco musical The Apple, a 1980 opus written and directed by schlockmeister extraordinaire Menahem Golan from the famed Cannon Films shed. It's the futuristic year of 1994 and everything looks like a bad 80s music video. Disco rules and the world is controlled by a huge showbiz conglomerate called BIM, whose evil boss tries to corrupt a naive folk music couple. The battle between good and evil may commence. The bizarre musical-allegory bombed seriously at the box office and received a very hostile audience reception when it was released, but over the years has become a required viewing for connoisseurs of bad cinema and shockproof aficionados. With all its qualities in mind we took the film as a challenge and as a special feature this camp monstrosity will be dubbed and sung into Czech live on stage by the stellar shockproof ensemble cast. Don't forget to wear your BIM mark!
