In a strange world devoid of emotions a group of people, who have devoted their identities to music, cross paths as they embark on a journey to the Big White Nothing to witness the final cosmic performance of a mythical rock star. German graphic designer and minimalistic music videos director FINT uses his debut feature to express his devotion to music and also the formative influence of manga comics and genre bending bizarre-movies from Japan of the turn of the century. Fonotune was made with the ambition to toss away genres and narrative conventions to create a graphic design-pop art movie that allows the audience to focus on the image, so they can sink in and enjoy the journey of fulfilling emptiness. From a cross section of European new waves and Japanese weirdo movies arises this “Koyaanisqatsi with comic book characters” and “Tarkovsky with headphones”.
