A young man with a group of his trusty friends visits Alcatraz after having vivid nightmares about all the people who died there. Slaughterhouse Rock is a film that wants to have it all. Bad dreams, demonic possession, astral projection, levitation, dismemberment, Elm Street vibes, ghosts, surfeit of mullets, lots of neon lighting and Hope Marie Carlton in the nude. Toni Basil dancing and Devo pushing the soundtrack are just icing on the cake. In short it is one of those incoherent trashy 80s horror movies that make an essential All Souls’ Day shockproof viewing. The already confusing story will be rendered even more confusing by the otherworldly voices of Josef Vokurka, Jíra Fostrá and Samantha Bifidus, who will be dubbing this cinematic monster live from stage into Czech. The 80s are dead, long live the 80s!
