Halloween II

While currently Halloween Kills in the majority of movie theatres, we're going back to the roots and celebrate the fortieth anniversary of one of the best entries in the whole franchise, Halloween II. The plot picks up directly after the first film, with Michael Myers following survivor Laurie Strode to the local hospital, where he gets plenty of room for some outrageously inventive murder scenes. It was never guaranteed that the original film was going to have a sequel and Halloween II is in a way a bit of an unwanted classic. Yet it is still towering high above the standard horror fair. From the original makers the one who really longed for Myers to return to the screen was producer Irwin Yablans. John Carpenter and Debra Hill agreed to write and produce the film, even if Carpenter didn’t direct this time, passing the torch to Rick Rosenthal instead. His kill-happy sequel is a lot bloodier than the original, Jamie Lee Curtis is as good as ever and Carpenter’s iconic music theme will send shivers down your spine. What is there not to like, we ask.
