Hellbender

What does a horror film made by the Adams family look like? The answer is Hellbender, a movie by husband and wife team John Adams and Toby Poser, starring their daughter Zelda Adams. There is no Uncle Fester here, but still it‘s a hell of a ride. The Adamses have made a dark, atmospheric horror full of pagan and considerably vaginal occultism. Laced with psychedelic effects, it follows mother and daughter who live a secluded life in their woodland home, passing time by walking in the woods and composing heavy metal songs. But then the sixteen-year-old girl begins to suspect her mother of actually being a witch. A highly original take on witchcraft, motherhood and being a teen, with elaborate mythology of its own, it's no wonder Hellbender has already bewitched audiences at a string of genre festivals.
