Fred Olen Ray is one of the Shockproof programmers’ pets since his work shows more or less all the treats this festival loves to present to its audience. An overabundance of nudity, pretty awesome gore effects, low-level acting, pulp storytelling and all of it poured over by a spicy sauce of properly improper sense of humour. This year’s Olen Ray addition to our programme is called Evil Spawn, the story of an aging actress who is willing to do just about anything to regain her sexiness and youth and subsequently get the lead in a trashy film. Needless to say, she will not end up half as beautiful as she expected. During the screening you might find yourself a little puzzled by why the Czech audience is laughing at certain moments. Well, it is probably the Czech subtitles but we are pretty sure you will be quite amazed and amused by Olen Ray’s psychological monster spectacle anyhoo.
